The best way to figure out how to get a mark would be to check at a community essay sample, but doing this without any guidance can be overpowering. How do you reveal insight? Do typos affect your score? What is a good way organized?

The sample community essays that follow were written in response to this prompt that appears under. The rater commentary that follows each sample article clarifies the answer meets the standards for this score.

Below you'll find selected examples of essays that "worked," as nominated by our admissions committee. These entrances are different and unique however, each of them helped the admissions reader in learning more about the student beyond the transcripts and lists of activities provided in their own applications.

Your aim in composing your community essays is to create a self-portrait that puts you at your target schools before your competition and singles out you. To achieve this, your documents will need to be creative, thoughtful, and persuasive. Below you will find sample essays which serve as examples of community essay excellence. As you read them, there are a number of key elements that you should take note of: the different individuality of each composition, the very clear theme, the engaging opening, and also the conclusion that ties the essay together, making it a complete, coherent unit.
