Diabetes

Diabetes is a complex type of disease with a variety of causes. The individuals that are known as the diabetic have the high content of sugar in their blood, or they can be said hyperglycemia. The diabetic persons have the metabolism disorder. The body generates energy out of the food that is being consumed. The sugars in the meals are absorbed into the bloodstream with the help of the insulin. The sugar is first broken into glucose then absorbed into the bloodstream with the help of the insulin that are released by the pancreas. The insulin is made of the cluster of cells such as the islet that contain beta cells. The beta cells generate the insulin and releases to the bloodstream (Edelman & Henry 2011).

Normal Aging

Type 2 diabetes was at first known as adults’ on-set diabetes. The research that was done by The Institute for Clinical Systems Improvement showed that type 2 diabetes is commonly associated with adults or the senior citizens. However, it is the type of diabetes that most common due to the reason that over 90% percent of diabetic people are type 2 diabetic. Anyone can develop type 2 diabetes, but most of the people who are suffering from type 2 diabetes are mostly associated with overweight, lack of proper physical exercise, diabetes family history, ethnic history and the gestational history. Type 2 diabetes typically starts with the resistance of the insulin that are caused by the overweight of the body muscles, fat cells and the liver that are not utilizing the glucose in the body (Levene & Donnelly 2008). The body needs a lot of insulin to ensure that all the glucose penetrates well into the body cells to be used in the production of energy. The disorder of the pancreas cause less production of the insulin; hence the production of the blood and cells rises to a higher level than what is required for a normal human being.

Glycosylated Hemoglobin Test

(Hemoglobin A1c) is one of the latest techniques that are used to test the type 2 diabetes. Glycosylated Hemoglobin Test is used to test the blood sugar that is contained in the hemoglobin. The hemoglobin is a substance that is in red blood cells that are essential for circulating oxygen (O2) to the cells in the body (Thomas, 2013). Hemoglobin is glycosylated due to the reason that hemoglobin is stuck in them. As the person blood sugar rises, the hemoglobin becomes more glycosylated. The glucose sticks on the hemoglobin throughout the life of the red blood cells or for at least 2 or 3 months. Therefore, Glycosylated Hemoglobin Test can be used to measure the amount of glycosylated hemoglobin that is in the blood.

The Glycosylated Hemoglobin Test reveals the amount of the blood glucose for a person for the last 2 to 3 months before the test was done. Glycosylated Hemoglobin Test can facilitate the determination on how well individual diabetes is controlled over a given period.
