INCREASED CAPABILITY TO TRANSMIT INFORMATION TO AND FROM EMPLOYEES, AND GIVING THEM THE ABILITY TO BECOME MOBILE, HAS CHANGED THE WAY THEY SHOULD BE MANAGED

Introduction

I agree with the argument that increased capability to transmit information to and from employees and giving them the ability to become mobile has changed the way they should be managed. DiscussionThis is because improved technology allows people to communicate more easily, transfer information, share ideas disregard of the physical locations. The management will therefore be able to monitor activities of employees without them reporting directly at the offices.

This occurrence of informal management gives employees more self-direction and authority. The employees will therefore clearly understand their roles and cover them appropriately without the management giving them information and orders (Petković, Orelj, & Lukić, 2014).Another reason contributing to the change in how the employees should be managed is that with mobility comes the sense of freedom. The employees have to learn to manage their time appropriately since they are not in the offices all the time. In the office, the management can be able to monitor the employees to ensure that they do not waste a lot of time. When the employees are mobile, monitoring becomes hard as the employees are not under one roof.

The employees are not monitored according to the time they arrive at work and the time they leave. Management has to come up with new ways to ensure that the employees do their work. The measures of job performance will have to change form face to face interactions and be measured by ability to complete the assigned tasks. The tasks also would have to be more goal oriented and objective (Petković et al., 2014).

Conclusion

Time management is a very important aspect that governs the success of any organization. The projects and activities are time bound. With increased mobility time wasting can be a real problem. The management therefore has to be more vigilant and stricter on time. Managers can ensure that the employees deliver b designing a system where those who observe time and finish their set tasks on time are rewarded while those who do not are punished.
