The best way to find out ways to get a mark would be to look at a object essay sample, but doing so without any guidance can be overpowering. How can you show insight? Do typos impact your score? What's a good way to keep your essay organized?

The sample object essays that follow were written in response to the prompt that appears below. The rater commentary that follows every sample essay clarifies how the answer meets the criteria for that score.

Below you'll find selected examples of documents that "worked," as nominated by our admissions committee. These entries are different and unique to the respective author; into learning more about the student beyond the transcripts and lists of actions offered in their 37, however, they each assisted the admissions reader.

Your aim in writing your object essays is to create a self-portrait that singles you out and puts you ahead of your competitors at your target schools. To achieve this, your documents will have to be thoughtful, creative, and persuasive. Below you'll find sample essays that serve as illustrations of object essay excellence. As you read them, there are a few key elements that you need to take notice of: the different individuality of each essay, the clear theme, the engaging opening, and the finish that ties the composition together, making it a whole, coherent unit.
